The Body Politic: Navigating History, Resistance, and Radical Hope
This multimedia triptych functions as a visual journey, expressing both personal and collective narratives of the Black queer feminist fight for bodily autonomy within America. Focused on reproductive justice, particularly in the wake of Roe v. Wade, the artwork is organized in a triptych format. The left panel explores the weight of historical oppression, while the center panel radiates with the vibrant energy of current resistance, showcasing images of protests and diverse voices asserting their agency. Finally, the right panel imagines a future filled with radical idealism, where healing and liberation intertwine. Incorporating diverse materials and textures, this project seeks to inspire feelings of empowerment and resilience, urging viewers to challenge societal norms and adopt intersectional feminist principles. Through layered visuals and text, it aims to foster empathy and prompt action in the pursuit of fundamental human rights. This artwork acts as a visual call to action, emphasizing the need to recognize marginalized voices and the pressing demand for systemic change.
